The performances of your shin guards have been verified by RICOTEST Notified Body nr. 0498 (Via Tione 9, 37010 Pastrengo - Verona - Italy) on the basis of a laboratory testing procedure performed following the technical requirements of
EN 13061:2009.
The shin guard is a size LARGE and is fit for a person with a height of 170-180 centimeters, and offers the recommended protection to a person accordingly. If your height is less than 170 centimeters or more than 180 centimeter we do NOT recommend you use this shin guard.
The liiteGuard shin guards come in a standard flat shape, that needs to be molded to fit you. This can be done quite easily by following the simple steps below. We advise you to carefully read these and also watch our instructions video (www.liiteguard.com/shinguard) before molding the shin guards. If you are younger than 18 years old, we strongly advise you to ask an adult for help with the molding process.
How to mold your shin guards:- pour boiling water in a bowl with a flat bottom
- put the shin guard in the water
- when it becomes transparent it is ready to be molded (this will take 45-60 seconds)
- use a fork or other metal object to lift the shin guard from the bowl
- grab the shin guard in the end with the small ridge and place it on the desired spot on the lower leg
- leave the shin guard on the leg, while it cools down, until the shin guard becomes white again, which means the plastic has regained its hard structure as prior to the heating (this will take 5-6 minutes)
- peel the cover of the adhesive foam and place the foam on the inside of each shin guard
Due to the molding process the shin guard will offer your a perfect custom fit, and the shin guard is ready for use, worn under a standard issue long football sock.
Although the shin guard has been tested and certified, please note that a shin guard will only protect you to a certain extent. The shin guard will protect you from most injuries due to kicks in training and game, but no shin guard can offer full protection against injury.
We strongly advise you not to alter the dimensions, thickness and size of the shin guard. Should you choose to do so anyway, please note that the protection of the shin guard will decrease accordingly to the changes you should make (eg. if you decide to cut the shin guard to minimize the size and weight).
In general we recommend that should the size of your shin guard for some reason differ from its original size (eg. due to an accident), then you should require a new pair to regain the optimal protection.
The shin guard is made from a type of plastic called 2-oxepanone homopolymer, which becomes moldable when heated to a temperature above 60 degrees celcius. Due to this be advised not to store your shin guards in a climate where the temperature exceedes 50 degrees celcius.
The shin guard can be hand washed with soap and water no hotter than 50 degrees celcius, and can be air dried or by the use of a towel.
The material in the shin guard will not weaken over time.
Despite this we advice you to inspect your shin guards on a regular basis, to ensure that they still offer the required protection. Should you find that you shin guards are damaged to an extend where the plastic shell has been perforated in one or more areas, we advice you to purchase a new pair of shin guards. This is also the case, if you during your inspection find rough or sharp edges in the shin guard. In general we advice the purchase of a new pair of shin guards, if the protected area has in any way differed from when you purchased the shin guards.
